Abu Dhabi Education Council and Aldar sign memorandum of understanding

Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) has today signed a partnership agreement with Aldar Properties, cementing a productive alliance that has already seen the successful opening of five schools across Abu Dhabi and a concerted effort to raise the quality of the city's educational standards and prepare its next generation of students to compete in the global market. The formalisation of this partnership will result in more schools opening over the coming years.

Speaking at the signing, HE Salem El Sayari, Executive Director of Support Services, ADEC said that ADEC is working on developing the private and public schooling sector at a fast pace in accordance with the Abu Dhabi government 2030 vision to create a knowledge based economy.

Sayari said that the MoU signed with Aldar Academies during the second day of Building Future Education MENA, celebrates the successful cooperation in continuing the development of private schools based on international best practices.

"Aldar Academies is already playing its part in providing educational services which are considered a transformation of the education sector in Abu Dhabi. Aldar was asked by ADEC to transform and renovate three public schools in line with its strategy to turn its existing school buildings into modern facilities based on international benchmarked standards," said Sayari.

Mohammed Al Mubarak, Deputy CEO, Aldar and Chairman of Aldar Academies said:
"Aldar is committed to contributing to the growth of Abu Dhabi through a number of development initiatives, one of which involves creating world-class institutions to position Abu Dhabi among the world's best in international educational rankings. We have a history of co-operation with the Abu Dhabi Education Council that has resulted in the opening of five schools, and this agreement will allow us to work closer than ever before, to better plan our efforts and ensure maximum benefit is derived from future projects."

Aldar operates a portfolio of schools in Abu Dhabi through its Aldar Academies division, delivering high-quality education to around 3,500 children from 4-18 years old of 40 different nationalities. Three of these schools were launched in September 2011.

Forward-looking and innovative, Aldar Academies' schools recognise that today's learners live in an increasingly globalised and multicultural world. Programmes are continuously reviewed and developed, taking account of recent educational research and thinking, to ensure that students are well-prepared for successful lives as global citizens in an ever-changing and highly technological world.

The schools currently operated by Aldar Academies that are operated in partnership with ADEC are The Pearl Primary, Al Muna Primary School, Al Bateen School, Al Mushrif School and Al Ain International School. Aldar also owns and operates Al Yasmina School.

Mohammed Al Mubarak, Aldar, added:
"Aldar Academies and ADEC are currently working to identify new education opportunities as well as continuing to grow the educational experience at our existing schools for our pupils. We will look to build and develop new schools when suitable opportunities arise."
